Natalie Joly is a Councillor for the City of St. Albert. Thank you, St. Albert, for your support.

Library Branch

Since announcing my intention to run for council, I’ve often been asked my opinion on the building of a library branch.

St. Albert needs a second branch:
• Community infrastructure is vital to a safe and vibrant city with invested residents; The St. Albert Public Library is core to serving our values as a community.

• A second branch is overdue; The last time the space was expanded was when I was in preschool and St. Albert has long since outgrown our single location. (I took my children into Edmonton for preschool library programs because we were unable to access the overflowing St. Albert programs.)

• I expect council to make educated decisions about capital project funding; When the details of land and branch build are finalized, council must decide on a funding model that considers all options and the impact to residents, including using reserves, borrowing, or possible tax increases.

I also appreciate hearing any thoughts and ideas about the project and about funding; Please let me know how you think we can ensure this project best serves our city.
